A drum circle is a way of sharing rhythm in a group gathering. Sound, voice and energy “entrain” or join as one, and a collective voice emerges as we drum together. Experience the healing rhythms and vibes as you reduce stress, improve health and leave feeling uplifted and alive! Drums and other rhythm instruments will be provided or feel free to bring your own. No prior experience necessary.
This circle is led by Marie Soffel on African djembe. Marie has been drumming for over 3 years. Her emphasis of study has been African rhythms. Marie has a down-to- earth and easy to follow style that allows every person to find ther inner drummer.

African Drumming Basics with Marie Soffel

Interested in learning how to play the African Djembe drum? This program is designed to offer the beginning drummer the tools and confidence to participate in drum circles. It's easy and fun, no musical experience required. In this workshop you will learn:
- The basic mechanics of African hand drumming
- The skills to play simple African rhythms within a group
- The unique dynamic that playing in a group offers
- How to connect with your own inner rhythm
Everyone has their own rhythm. Express the rhythm within you by learning how to play the African Djembe. All instruments will be provided.
Beyond Djembe Basics with Marie Soffel

Ready for the next level in your drumming practice? This workshop is for those who have already taken Djembe Basics or for have previous drumming experience. Instruction will include more complex rhythms with an emphasis on timing. You will gain skills that prepare you for "poly-rhythms, " - playing with multiple rhythms in a group. Join this fun and easy workshop designed to assist you in refining your drumming skills.
Drums will be provided or feel free to bring your own.
