Most of us eat "mindlessly" or without awareness. We are distracted, caught in repetitive and/or negative self-talk, and even "multi-task" as we eat. Eating mindfully means eating with awareness. Not necessarily awareness of what foods are on your plate, but rather awareness of the experience of eating. Mindful eating is being present, moment by moment, for each sensation that happens during eating, such as chewing, tasting and swallowing. In this introduction you will learn about the nature of mindfulness and mindful eating and experience several mindful eating practices. Please bring a journal and a favorite snack.

Interested in learning how to play the African Djembe drum? This program is designed to offer the beginning drummer the tools and confidence to participate in drum circles. It's easy and fun, no musical experience required. In this workshop you will learn:
- The basic mechanics of African hand drumming
- Skills to play simple African rhythms within a group
- The unique dynamic that playing in a group offers
- How to connect with your own inner rhythm
Everyone has their own rhythm. Express the rhythm within you by learning how to play the African Djembe. Drums will be provided or feel free to bring your own. This circle is led by Marie Palmieri on African djembe. Marie has been drumming for over 4 years with an emphasis of study on African rhythms.
