Yoga for Pain Relief with Brian Critchley, RYT

This workshop addresses common physical pain patterns (low back, shoulder, and knee pain) and ways to find relief through yoga. The practice of yoga encourages proper alignment of the body, lengthening and strengthening of muscle tissue, and calming of the nervous system – all of which can play a role in tapping into the body’s natural healing tendencies. For each common ailment a series of poses will be offered that when done regularly can reduce bouts with chronic pain. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Attendees who pre-register have the opportunity to suggest a specific muscle or joint they would like to work on during this session.
Instructor Brian Critchley, publisher of New Jersey Namaste News, a local yoga lifestyle magazine, is a graduate of Inner Light Yoga Center, Somerset School of Massage Therapy and Princeton University. He was inspired to start his yoga practice 10 years ago in order to increase the flexibility in his tight leg muscles. While his hamstrings are still tight, yoga has helped him recover from a serious back injury, decrease stress levels, and increase energy, stamina, and strength.

Unravel your stress from the work week! Join us for Yin Yoga where you allow your inner awareness to be your guide. This all-level yoga practice helps you ease the body, mind and connect with your spirit. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, joints and muscle fascia of the body. Workshop ends with the deep relaxation of Yoga Nidra. Leave feeling centered, relaxed & grounded.
Instructor Ryah Dekis has completed Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, RYT through Yoga Alliance and is registered and certified to teach kids yoga, pre/post-natal, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, gentle and private sessions. She is also certified to teach guided meditation and Pranayama. Additionally she has completed 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training, RYT through Yoga Alliance. She is a member of IAYT-International Association of Yoga Therapists.
